Ding Weixiang was born in 1957, graduated from college in 1982, and received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in 1987 and 1999 respectively. He has been serving as Professor at Shaanxi Normal University since 1987. After joining that university, he has been responsible for teaching Marxist Philosophy, and conducting research on Chinese philosophy from the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. At present, he is responsible for teaching courses on Confucianism, the history of Chinese philosophy, and the research methodology of Chinese philosophy. He has authored three books and more than 25 papers in both Chinese and English. His research areas are Chinese philosophy, Confucianism, and the history of Chinese philosophy.
