Wan Junren was born in 1958. He graduated from Peking University and received his Master’s Degree in Philosophy. He is currently a professor, Ph.D. supervisor, and the Dean of the School of the Humanities at Tsinghua University. He is also the chair of the Academic Committee of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, member of the Academic Committee and member of the Tsinghua University Professorship Selection Committee. He was appointed ‘Yangzi Scholar’ by the Ministry of Education in 2008.
His main research interests are ethics and political philosophy. He has chaired more than ten projects including important ones sponsored by the National Social Science Foundation and those involving international partnerships. He has been visiting scholar in Department of Philosophy and the Harvard- Yenching Institute at Harvard three times as a visiting fellow, a visiting professor and as a Fullbright scholar, and has visited and taught in many universities or research institutes in Europe, USA, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
His honors include important academic awards such as “the First National Universities Excellent Achievement (Books) Award”, “The Second Jin Yuelin Academic Achievement Award”, and “An Excellent Young Teacher Honorship”. He has published sixteen books and translated eighteen books from English into Chinese. He has also published more than two-hundred articles both in English and Chinese.
