Yang Rui was born in Jilin City but spent much of his childhood in Jiangsu Province. From 1980 to 1986 he attended Shanghai International Studies University, where he received degrees in American/English Literature and International News. He began his career as a journalist with China National Radio. In 1988, he joined CCTV’s Foreign Department. Currently, he is the presenter of Dialogue, an English language talk show on current issues where foreign guests have frequent appearances. He has interviewed many famous figures of the world including former US President Bush, Margret Thatcher, and General Musharaf.
